Grassroots practitioners are the heart of our Seed program.

This program is driven by a clear purpose to empower recipients to address emerging needs, seize opportunities and create immediate impact in their communities through nimble and adaptive funding. Grassroots practitioners work alongside local coordinators, representing diverse nature inspired approaches and knowledge systems that build resilience.

Fast and context-dependent impact

In each of these funds, $3,000 is distributed to individuals and groups to make changes in their communities. So far, through the African Women & Youth Regenerative Fund and Brazilian Indigenous Women’s Flow Fund, a diverse array of unique, context-dependent community initiatives have been supported in Brazil, Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.

The origin of Flow Funding

The flow funding structure was initially created by Marion Weber in 1991, where donors entrust their money to social innovators and  visionaries to give away. It is a funding approach that emphasizes quick and flexible allocation of resources to support grassroots initiatives or urgent needs.

“With these funds, we were able to support 108 marginalized women, enabling them to become leaders in permaculture. We used the funds to create conical gardens and implement zai pit technology near their homes, which not only provided them with sustainable food sources but also served as a demonstration for thousands of their neighbors.”

How WE support grassroots LEADERS

We fund local interventions to support growth in capacity, scalability, visibility, and impact.

We connect agents of change in cohorts for shared learnings, reflection and mutual support.

We platform partner stories to grow the regenerative movement and the flow of resources.
