Moving from Problems to Potential: Developing Capacity Regeneratively

25th February, 2021

Regenerative development is rooted in the principle of working from potential rather than focusing on problems. How can the potential of regenerative projects be resourced in order to let their essence flourish?

Many regenerative projects want to grow their capacity, but become trapped in a power dynamic with funders. The focus can shift to appeasing the desires of funders, rather than expressing what is truly needed in order to grow their regenerative programs.

This, and more, was explored in our sixth Humans of Regenerosity webinar. We welcomed Ian Solomon-Kawall, Bill Reed, Josie Plaut and Jim Newman. View the webinar below.

Monitoring and Metrics to Accelerate Regeneration

19th November, 2020

Our planet’s vital life systems are being nurtured by the hands of people working alongside nature’s genius, regenerating our global ecosystems. As we undergo this transformation, it is critical to monitor ecology as they go through a state change process so that we can learn from and reward them. It is important that we create evidence to build and bolster the regenerative movement.

Alongside this, it is critical that we monitor and learn in a way that does not replicate and perpetuate colonial and mechanistic models. How can we make monitoring and evaluation relevant and inspiring to the communities utilising it?

We explored these key questions and more in this Humans of Regeneration webinar. We were grateful to welcome Dorn Cox, Gisel Booman and Anne-Marie Mayer onto our guest panel.

Funding the Future

24th September, 2020

We are at a crucial point of inflection. As we look into the future, it looks covered in smoke. Our shared commons - the land, water, air, diversity - are under threat due to destructive and extracative systems which underpin the dominant culture.

To shift away from the total collapse of our life-giving systems, we need to welcome the perspectives of cultures who maintain an unbroken sense of connection to the wild, and despite immense struggle, are stewarding key sources of life on the planet.

This webinar aimed to shed light on the innovative strategies to help resource indigenous communities who are on the frontlines of ecosystems protection and regeneration.

Toward Regenerative Philanthropy: Funders’ Stories of Shared Power

12th August, 2020

To create a regenerative future, we must shift the power dynamics between those who have money and those who have the potential, know-how, and culture that can realign the world with nature’s intelligence.

In our third Regenerosity Webinar, we explored what shared power could look like in philanthropy. The transformative impact of philanthropy can go beyond financially supporting important work, and actually help shift power and financial control into the hands of the communities doing some of the planet’s most critical tasks.

Scaling Regeneration

15th July 2020

Scale is a vexing challenge for the regeneration movement. Regenerative practices happen in place. They are rooted in context - in bioregions and in their social, cultural, economic ecosystems. Authentic regeneration takes time. It does not easily lend itself to simplification and replication.

In our second Regenerosity Webinar, we explored the challenges around the question of scale. How can we accelerate the adoption of regenerative practices? What appropriate forms can such acceleration and scaling approaches take?

Philanthropy, Meet Regeneration

17th June 2020

In our first Regenerosity Webinar, we heard from philanthropists who have successfully resourced regenerative projects by shifting their organization’s strategic funding goals.

Alongside Noah Ssempijja from YICE Uganda, we explored how eco-social regeneration holds the potential to exceed every Sustainable Development Goal, and reshape our relationship with nature.
