Season of Giving 2023 | Give a gift to the grassroots

What could the world look like if all people and communities thrived, living in partnership with healthy ecosystems?

At Regenerosity, we aim to amplify the voices and the work of grassroots communities who are making this possible. We work with high-potential, community-based initiatives in threatened or degraded landscapes: grassroots partners who are making meaningful change in their social and ecological landscapes.

This Giving season, we invite you to join us and make a contribution to grassroots regenerators. You can do this by donating here, or for larger donations you can get in touch with us here.

Why grassroots?

Small community-centred organizations are often at the frontlines of some of the world’s biggest challenges, including the climate and nature crises. They are often the first to feel the harsh effects of rapidly changing social and ecological climates, and they are also often the first to respond. With the ongoing degradation of land and forest, grassroots community groups are key to protecting and regenerating threatened or degraded landscapes.

Grassroots organizations are the true wealth holders of knowledge and local expertise. Often, developmental work is modelled on a Western approach, in many instances with an aim to spread Western ideologies. These kind of responses, far from encouraging culturally appropriate or ecologically-minded solutions, can create ongoing damage in communities and landscapes. Grassroots organizations are often holders of immense amounts of cultural wealth and a deep understanding of the ecology of their place. Responses that are guided and framed by this understanding can have deeper, richer, and more longer lasting effects.

Why give money to the grassroots?

Even small amounts of financial or non-financial support can make a world of difference. Many grassroots organizations work on small budgets but have an impact that is proportionally larger than international NGOs. Their work is trusted by their communities, and is better able to tailor interventions to the needs of people.

For example, by training farmers in growing Permaculture gardens, our partner YICE Uganda was able to double the amount of meals that hundreds of families were eating daily, in the Nakivale refugee settlement in Uganda. Now, hundreds of families have direct access to nutritious, diverse foods.

Our partners Tarun Bharat Sangh, through creating large rainwater harvesting structures, were able to increase the water security of the region by 30%. Their work in Rajasthan, India, has helped to transform dry landscapes into thriving, green oases.

You can meet some of our partners in this film series, here. Your kind contribution will be an act of solidarity, amplifying the work of these regenerative leaders.

We welcome you to join us by donating here, or for larger donations you can get in touch with us here.

Thank you for your regenerosity. Together, we can amplify the voices and the work of grassroots regenerators.
